Egalmoth

Egalmoth (TA 2698-2743) was the eighteenth Ruling Steward of Gondor.

Born in TA 2626 Egalmoth, was the grandson of Morwen, the daughter of Belecthor I, and the great-nephew of Orodreth.
When, the seventeenth Ruling Steward Ecthelion I died in TA 2698 without issue, Egalmoth succeeded his cousin as Steward.
The majority of Egalmoth's rule passed uneventfully, however, three years before his death in TA 2740 the Orcs renewed their war on Gondor.
Egalmoth died in TA 2743 at the age of 117 years old, and was succeeded by his son Beren.

An earlier Egalmoth, who lived during the First Age, was a Ñoldorin Elf of Gondolin, the leader of the Folk of the Heavenly Arch. He survived the Fall of Gondolin, and fled to the Mouths of Sirion, and later died in the attack by the Sons of Fëanor.
